Who is the favourite to win the 22-23 PL

If early oddsmakers at the Premier League are to be believed, Man City and Liverpool will be the teams to beat as the Premier League campaign of 2022-23 gets underway. With this in mind, it is easy to see why Manchester City sits at the top of 2022-23 Premier League betting odds. If their 2022-23 Premier League odds are any indication, City (163) are well on their way to another title. The latest odds for England’s Premier League suggest a two-horse race between Manchester City and Liverpool.

Defending champions Manchester City are the clear favourites, leading the odds markets by significant margins against Liverpool, even after Liverpool made a genuine push for last season’s title. Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-min from Liverpool and Tottenham, respectively, shared the Premier League golden boot in 2021-22, but any hopes they had of defending that crown in 2022-23 are going to be tested by players such as Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo. Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all seem assured of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, though the fourth spot is certainly up for grabs. The closest challengers to the top two appear equal partners to Tottenham and Chelsea; if bookies are anything to go by, both sides are priced a massive 16/1 to win the Premier League, while Man United are further down at 25/1.

Manchester United and Arsenal should offer a tighter contest than last season’s top four, with both teams looking to deliver Premier League comebacks. There is a significant gap behind Arsenal, who complete the front six favourites, with Newcastle United, West Ham, Leicester City and Aston Villa also all improbable candidates. Tottenham overtook arch-rivals Arsenal to clinch that last slot last term, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all the season long being the clear favourites to take the first three slots. Manchester United registered their worst-ever campaign in the Premier League last term, winning just 16 of their 38 games, finishing in sixth place, 35 points adrift of Manchester City.

Two-time reigning champions Manchester City kick off their Premier League campaign in 2022-23 on Sunday, 7 August, away at West Ham. Following the end of the 2021/22 season, which saw City keep the Premier League trophy while Norwich, Watford and Burnley were relegated, a brief hiatus was followed before the Premier League started again. The last time that Man City was asked to win their third consecutive League Championship, Liverpool held off Man City, and this will again be a wise gamble in backing the same. Chelsea making several good signings does also make them one of the favourites to win the Premier League.
