Arsenal vs Bodo/Glimt: Europa League preview and odds

Arsenal play Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday (kick-off, 8pm BST), and the Gunners are in great form after defeating Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby on Saturday.

That result retained Arsenal atop the Premier League, and three points against the Norwegians would put them atop Group A.

However, Bodo/Glimt have also had a solid start to the competition, drawing with PSV Eindhoven and overcoming FC Zurich in their opening two matches, so Arsenal will have to fight hard to win.

Arsenal has won eight of their nine matches in all competitions this season, scoring 22 goals. The sole blemish on their record is a 3-1 loss away to Manchester United this season, when they failed to score at least twice.

The goals should keep coming thick and fast, and even if Mikel Arteta is set to make changes to his starting lineup on Thursday, the north Londoners will still play a very formidable team.

Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira are likely to start, and both know how to find the back of the net.

Winning won’t be an easy task, as Bodo/Glimt are unbeaten and have scored in both their group matches to date, but we expect Arsenal to have too much for the visitors in this one.

Vieira will be aware that these are the types of games in which he needs to excel if he is to gain a more regular starting spot in Arsenal’s first team.

The midfielder has impressed in his cameo appearances since joining from Porto, and he showcased his scoring ability with a beautiful strike in the recent victory over Brentford.

Bodo/Glimt loves to attack, as evidenced by their performance in the Europa Conference League last season, but this could prove costly against an Arsenal side that breaks quickly.

We expect Vieira to be right in the thick of things at the Emirates on Thursday night, and at 3/1 to have two or more shots on target, he represents good value.

Arsenal @ 1/5

Draw @ 11/2

Bodo/Glimt @ 11/1
